Fernando Kim, MD, MBA, FACS, is Chief of Urology at Denver Health Medical Center and Professor of Surgery/Urology and Medical Director of Minimally Invasive Urological Oncology at University of Colorado at Denver. Dr. Kim received his medical degree from the University of Sao Paulo School of Medicine in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 1989 and went on to complete a trauma research fellowship at Denver Health Medical Center. He also completed residencies in general surgery and urology at University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center and Loyola University Medical Center. He later completed an endourology and laparoscopy fellowship at the James Buchanan Brady Urological Institute at John Hopkins: University School of Medicine and graduated from the University of Colorado School of Business. Dr. Kim has earned several awards including the Presidential Juscelino Kubitschek Medal, the Paul Alan Wetter Award, the Brazilian Armed Forces Friendship Bridge Award, the Ernest E. Moore trauma award – Rocky Mountain Regional Trauma Center, The Medal of Merit in Urology (ABC School of Medicine), The Societa Italiana di Urologia International Guest Recognition, the Brazilian Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Friends Award, Denver Health Medical center physician of the year 2013, Professor Emeritus in Urology, ABC School of Medicine, Sao Bernardo, Brazil and he is a proud member of the American Urological Association Leadership Program Class of 2007. Dr. Kim has been the American Urological Association’s Host Country Liaison since 2008. He has been named among the Best Doctors in America since 2008, US News & World Report, and Best Boss at DHMC. He has served as Vice Chair of Technology, Research and Development for the National urological Ultrasound Faculty (American Urological Association), and he continues to serve in several committees, including the patient safety in surgery. Dr. Kim has authored more than 250 published articles.
