Collecting Information

CJP gathers and tracks information/data that users provide through registration on our site. In addition to this gathering of information by the registration of users and in an effort to improve our site, CJP also gathers information through tracking systems depending on the service being used by you. The tracking systems include deriving data by tallying page views throughout our site, capturing information on the type of browser being used to view the Site, tracking what pages you have visited while on the site, and tracking what computers respond to a CJP survey. This information enables us to better provide educational programming and to respond to our users’ needs and is gathered solely on an aggregate basis.

To demonstrate our commitment to your privacy, we will share our information practices with you on request, including:

  • What personal data is collected from users of the Site.
  • The organization collecting the personal data.
  • How the collected personal data is used.
  • With whom the personal data may be shared.
  • What rights and choices are available to users.
  • The security procedures in place to protect the loss, misuse, or alteration of information under GRU’s control.
  • What personal data is collected from users of the Site.

We collect your personal data when you provide it to us. For example, by visiting our Site, filling out a form on our Site, registering for a conference we run, contacting us, or by entering into a contract with us. These data collection processes are elaborated below.

Personal Information and Third Parties

Sharing of Information

CJP may provide aggregate Non-Personal Information (NPI) to third parties. For example, we might inform third parties regarding the number of users of the Website and the activities they conduct while on the Website. We might, for example, inform a pharmaceutical company (that exhibits at a CJP conference or sponsors non-CME symposia held in conjunction with a CJP conference) that “25% of conference attendees/participants are medical oncologists” or that “10% of our conference attendees/participants work in an academic setting.”

CJP discloses your “limited PII,” which does not include your professional affiliation/institution, address, or contact information to third parties who solicit and/or manage non-CME symposia held in conjunction with CJP’s conferences. CJP requires any other organization that we retain or engage to provide support services to us to conform to our privacy information pertaining to the “Sharing of Information” section of this Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. CJP also provides Aggregate NPI to third parties who exhibit at CJP conferences.

Third party vendors are prohibited from using NPI or “limited PI” contained in pre-registration and attendee lists to:

  • Engage in activities that would violate: any fiduciary or contractual relationship; any applicable local, state, national, or international law; or any regulations having the force of law, including but not limited to operating an illegal lottery or gambling operation, stalking, or making threats of harm.
  • Transmit content that: is inaccurate, harmful, obscene, pornographic, defamatory, racist, violent, offensive, or harassing;causes duress, distress, or discomfort to another; is otherwise objectionable to CJP, the conference sponsor; violates or infringes anyone’s intellectual property rights; constitutes electioneering, such as exhortations to vote for or against any candidate for public office; is misleading, incomplete, or incorrect related to any aspect of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and care; implies a relationship with or endorsement of CJP.
  • Solicit for any for-profit venture, operation, or effort.

In other words, we and our affiliates share information with each other or with third-party service providers (including consultants and attorneys) for general business purposes pursued by us, such as internal administration, billing, claim handling and services, and providing you or your organization with services.

We and our affiliated entities may share information with third-party data controllers (including law enforcement agencies and potential transaction partners, sponsors, and investors) where we and our affiliated entities have a legal basis to do so.

During your attendance at an event organized by us, your registration or badge containing personal data or information that reasonably identifies you will be tracked for administrative and legal compliance purposes (for example, registration, attendance, Sunshine Act reporting). Additionally, we will also provide third party data controllers (i.e., our sponsors, supporters, and exhibitors whose event, presentation, or booth you visited or attended) with your personal data or information for such third party data controller’s independent use in compliance with their privacy statements.

If we transfer your personal data to a recipient outside of the European Union, we will only do so in compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation. If you have questions about the international transfers of your personal data or the appropriate safeguards we have in place or wish to obtain a copy of such safeguards, please contact us via info@grandroundsinurology.com.
